Moses In The Wilderness
02:18
|
|||
Moses tending sheep in the field one day
Thought he heard a burning scrub-brush say
Gotta free your people
From the Pharaoh's hand
Y’gotta take 'em all to the promised land
Moses knew that God was a-talking to him
So he set off to Egypt with a vigour and vim
And Moses bugged the Pharaoh, yes he bugged him
And he bugged him
'Till he got his people freed
Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm yes indeed
Mmm-hmm he got his people freed
Mmm-hmm-hmm-aoh
Ow-how-how-hom
Moses on the banks of the wide Red Sea
Stuck out a stick and a-one two three
The waters rolled back
And the people walked down
‘Cos everybody knew that they wouldn't drown
Pharaoh told his army to bring 'em all back
And here come the chariots clickety clack
Well Moses took a stick
And he closed up the water
And the 'Gyptians all took a bath
Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm what a laugh
Mmm-hmm they all took a bath
Mmm-hmm-hmm-dowm
Aoh-ho-ho-hmm
Grab my foot take my hand
Lead me on to the promised land
Milk and honey milk and honey
Milk and honey milk and honey
Me and all my people is here
So keep on sending manna
From the atmosphere
Milk and honey milk and honey
Milk and honey milk and honey, honey
After forty long years in the wilderness
They finally saw their potential metropolis
They all gave thanks
And they all praised the Lord
Even though it took time he’d kept his word
He had grab-bed their foot, had tooketh their hand
And had brought 'em all over
To the promised land
But it seems to me like an awful long time to be
Looking for a home
Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm mighty long roam
Mmm-hmm looking for a home
Mmm-hmm-hmm-aowm
Uh-huh-huh-huh-uh

Surfing On Stone Waves
03:31
|

This next song is my last song. It’s a, it’s a satire on a rock and roll song. Let’s see, the Beach Boys first put out a... The Beach Boys, Beach Boys first put out a song called Catch A Wave and then Jan and Dean put out a song called Sidewalk Surfing, and this is my somewhat slightly altered version of Sidewalk Surfing, it’s called Surfing On Stone Waves [Spoken]
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Don’t be a greaser try the greatest sport around
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Get a two by four and go skatin’ on the ground
Sidewalk surfing is a sport that’s been authenticated
By the latest committee from Sports Illustrated
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
You get some plywood and a pair of roller skates
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Now nail ‘em all together and be sure you get ‘em all straight
You make your dad move the Chevrolet
And then you cruise up and down in your own driveway
And then you hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Watch out for fireplugs and watch out for telephone poles
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Now watch where you’re going or you might get knocked out cold
I knew a guy on the west side of town who [Voice cracks]
I’m not a soprano tonight [Spoken]
I knew a guy on the west side of town who ran into a building and he knocked it down
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Get your board and throw a tantrum in the street
Bump your rump
Now all your neighbours will think it’s just the heat
You can do the tricks the surfers do
Just try an Australian head dip and then hang two
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Bump your rump now, bump your rump
Thank you [Spoken]

Hey
[Cheers]
People come from everywhere
To find the love they need
They come for love on Haight Street
And the people here
All share that love with everyone they meet
They come for love on Haight Street
Love love love that’s what everybody’s looking for
Love love love baby we got it
Love love love that’s what everybody’s looking for
Love love love and we all got it

To find the love they need
They come for love on Haight Street
A-because love love love that’s what everybody’s looking for

Here comes the ice cream man
Wonder if I got a dime
Every day he comes this way about this time
Yes I can hear his bells
Advertising what he sells
Crystal flavors on a stick just take my pick
But on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
What a lucky break (Ooh ooh)
I just got the shakes that he's here already now I'm steady
I like to take my time
Doing things that please my mind
People always on the rush get out of touch
And on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
Rushing in the street (Ooh ooh)
Following my feet my mouth is dry I'm half alive
I like to take my time
Doing things that please my mind
People always on the rush get out of touch
Here comes the ice cream man
Wonder if I got a dime
Every day he comes this way about this time
Hmm but on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
What a lucky break
Ooh ooh

Buttercup
01:31
|
|||
I just got in town
Thought I'd call you up
'Cos I'd like to see you
Buttercup
How 'bout some dinner
And some soft conversation
A glass of wine
The evening is yours
And the pleasure's mine
We'll catch a movie show and then go
To some nice (nice) little restaurant
Then after dinner I'll take you home
And we can do just what we want
Oo-uh
Just being near you
Speeds up
My circulation
Buttercup
Ooh buttercup
We'll catch a movie show and then go
To some nice little restaurant
Then after dinner I'll take you home
And we can do just what we want
Ooh ooh ooh
I just got in town
Thought I'd call you up
'Cos I'd like to see you
Buttercup
Oh buttercup

Blind Randall
02:18
|
|||
All right let it, keep on rolling
One two three four boomph tch boom boom tch boom tch pch-a-ha-a [Spoken]
Blind Randall sings the blues
He plays guitar, he’s paid his dues
Picks up a tune and knocks it flat
In a straight back chair in his old brown hat
Randall’s one of the all around greats
You oughta hear him play the eighty eights
Different thing you know what I mean
But he can play the kind of music that you never seen
He won’t join a local union
He says he doesn’t ??? with art
He says the union master’s tone deaf
And he can’t keep rhythm even with his heart
Yeah
Randall’s one of the all around greats
You oughta hear him play the eighty eights
He don’t read music if you know what I mean
But he can play the kind of musics no one ever seen
He don’t want nothin’ from welfare
He says that money takes your soul away
That a man must earn his way through life
What you take for free will be the price you pay
Blind Randall he’s my good friend
He takes me places I never been
I said Randall you seem so wise
He said I’ve seen the son with my own two eyes
Ah-ba ba da dip ba
Ah da eep ba de ba da ba
Dip bap-n ba ba dip ba ba
Ba boo bump ba boo bump ba boo bump-n ba ba
Bump ba boo bump ba boo bump-n ba ba

Why Can't You Be Good
04:18
|
|||
One two one two three [Spoken]
Why can't you behave
Why can't you be good
You don't even try
To do the things you should
What is the reason
I’d like to know
Why you can't be good
You go into the bedroom
You say you’ve got to powder your nose
But the powder is cocaine
I see traces on your clothes
What is the reason
I’d like to know
Why you can't be good
Take another look inside your dreams tonight
When you go to sleep
Try and find the reason why you've lost your way
Like some little sheep
You say that you love me
That your heart is true
But you’ve got so many other lover
What are you trying to do
What is the reason
I’d like to know
Why you can't be good
Take another look inside your dreams tonight
When you go to sleep
Try and find the reasons why you've lost your way
Like some little sheep
You say that you love me
And that your heart is true
But you’ve got so many other lovers baby
What're you trying to do
What is the reason
I’d like to know [x3]
Why you can't be good

'Til Kingdom Come
04:02
|
|||
Steal my heart and hold my tongue
I feel my time, my time has come
Let me in, unlock the door
I've never felt this way before
The wheels just keep on turning
The drummer begins to drum
Don't know which way I'm going
Don't know which way I've come
Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands
I need someone, someone who hears
For you I've waited all these years
For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
Just say you'll come and set me free
Say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I hear you sing
I wouldn't change a single thing
The wheels just keep on turnin’
The drummers begin to drum
Don't know which way I'm going
I don't know what I'll become
For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come
Until my days, my days are done
So say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me

Six Feet Of Chain
04:17
|
|||
Aah ah ah ah ah [Continues throughout spoken introduction]
I don’t know whether you believe this or not, but we have two brothers in Trouble who are the thievinest, sneakinest, well just downright crookedest people you’d ever wanna meet. Now of course that might not be too hard to believe, but when Orvill and George Dobkins - that’s the two brothers - steal something, they don’t steal from none of us. They steal from each other. That’s right, they steal from each other, have each other arrested and put in jail. Now Orvill’s been in jail, well eh twelve times. And George, well George has been in eleven. In fact he’s still in. Now the other day I saw Orvill on the street and after we got through with our howdees I asked him how George was. He kinda smiled and scratched the hammer holder on his overalls and said he guessed he’s ok. Then I said you know Orvill, it seems an awful shame for you and your brother to be stealing from each other all the time, and having each other arrested and spending all that time in jail. You must feel kinda bad with your brother all locked up in jail and you out here free as a bird. Well Orvill kinda grinned and said, it ain’t so bad, he can do anything he wants to do. [Spoken]
He can love any woman he sees
He can stay up as late as he please
He can take a nice walk in the rain
If he can do it on six feet of chain
Six feet of chain
Six feet of chain
He's a prisoner on six feet of chain
He can climb up a mountain so high
He can run, he can jump, he can fly
He can have plenty fortune and fame
If he can do it on six feet of chain
Six feet of chain
Six feet of chain
He's a prisoner on six feet of chain
He can go if he wants to go
He can stay if he wants to stay
He can go crazy or stay sane
But he must do it on six feet of chain
(It’s a long road to get there) [x9]
Six feet of chain
Six feet of chain
He's a prisoner on six feet of chain

Trouble is little and it's lonesome. You won't find it on any map. But you can take three steps in any direction and you're there. It's a place to be born. And it's a place to live. And it's a place to die and be forgotten. It's a town called Trouble. And Trouble is a lonesome town [Spoken]
Lord I'd like to leave this town
Lord I'd like to leave this town, this town
But I guess I'll hang around
Yes I guess I'll hang around
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is a lonesome town, this town
Trouble is where I was born
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is where I was born, oh Lord
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is where I belong
Trouble is where I belong
Oh Lord, trouble
