The Troubles
06:06
|
|||
You gotta go through changes
If you want to grow
You've gotta learn some lessons
You don't want to know
You're gonna end up places
Where you never been
You'll be a stronger person
When you get back again
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
There's a slow procession
On a lonely road
People start to cry
They've come to say goodbye
And friends help carry the load
But if you open your arms
And take it all in
You'll be a stronger person
When you get back again
You can run for the shelter
And hide in the shadows
When the sky is falling on you
Or you can open your heart
To the pain and the sorrow
'Til the storm is finally through
[Coughs]
It takes a lot of courage
To live this life
When the troubles come calling
And the tears start falling
It just cuts you like a knife
You've gotta stand your ground
When your world caves in
You'll be a stronger person
When you get back again
Na na na na da da na
Da na na na na ah ya ah ya ah ya
Ung da na da da da ah la de da na na
You can run for the shelter
And hide in the shadows
When the sky starts falling on you
Or you can open your heart
To the pain and the sorrow
'Til the storm is finally through
It takes a lot of courage
To live this life
When the troubles come calling
And the tears start falling
It just cuts you like a knife
You've gotta stand your ground
When your world caves in
You'll be a stronger person
When you get back again
When you get back again
When you get back
Be a stronger person
When you get back
Be a stronger person
When you get back
You'll be a stronger person
When you get back again
Ah da da da bum
Ung da da da dun
Doy ee oy ee oh
[Coughs]
Keep going [Spoken, very faintly]
??? [Spoken, very faintly]

Be Careful What You Sign

I was walking down the road when I bumped into you
I was walking down the road ah, when I bumped into you
Mmm you stopped me, you touched me, you looked me in the eye
I had the feeling that you knew me, I decided you must die
I pulled out my Thornton special, I shot you in the head
I threw you in the alley way, I left you for dead
Ah-chi-uh, ah-chi-uh-chi-uh
Chi chi chi
Then a man with a hat, he came up from behind
The sky went black and I thought I was blind, yeah
He put his hand into my jacket, he left a million dollar bills
He put his hand into my pocket, he left me women and thrills
And when I turned around to thank him there was no one there but me
And both my hands were filled with sand, I was standing by the sea
We had dinner at eight, women at nine
The party was great till we ran outta wine
There was a knock upon the bedroom door, my knees began to shake
And this man came in, he melted all the candles on my cake
He said I've come here to escort you, it's time for you to go
He opened up my body, he took away my soul
Aaaaaah
I was running down the road
I was running down the road, I was trying to leave
An' I saw you all alone in between the thieves
And when the lightning flashed I saw somebody hanging from a tree
And as I turned to walk away I realized it was me
I pulled out my Thornton special, I shot me in the head
I threw me in the alleyway and I left me for dead
Down the road
I was just going down the road
Just like you, just like you
I was just walking down the road

Children Of Lugoj
05:12
|
|||
Down through the fields
Across the river
Up to the door of the house
Where the children live
The light reveals
The lamp light shivers
That stand before
As you reach out your hand to give
The empty faces full of questioning
Your workless fingers full of gesturing
What language can you share
The one of love and care
That's all that's needed there
You smile dismayed
Your gaze returned
By hopeful eyes
And timid looks, lips moving silently
The past replayed
The houses burned
With no disguise
Betrayal shook each child so violently
You move your fingers slowly at your side
You tell yourself you got no guilt to hide
You look down at the floor
Your back against the door
Then look at them once more
The cold night air
Starts creeping in
You start to speak
Your coat feels warm, with your pockets full
Their legs are bare
Their arms are thin
Their hands are weak
So close to harm that your senses crawl
You hold your breath then you let it out
You've got so much you can live without
They stand here watching you
The time for words is through
'Cause you know what to do

Rubie

Oh no, they'd never let me go to no dances, no sir Paul, you're not supposed to dance. Not supposed to dances. They had nice parties [Spoken by grandma Rubie]
I grew up in San Francisco, an all black neighbourhood. I remember it very well. I was not allowed to dance. But in my room I could move around if I felt like it, and had the chance. I started playing music when I was five, 1952, writing down my feelings. Everybody's life is different, and so's mine. Isn't that right grandma? [Spoken by Larry]
My feet are on a rock, my name is on a roll
But moving and a grooving does not satisfy my soul
So when I’m down I go off on my own
When I feel moved I dance before the throne
Just like David [Spoken]
My friends think that I’m strange
Guess they think that I’m a fool
You know they look at me in church
And they laugh at me in school
But I believe someone rolled away the stone
And I am not alone
So when I feel the need I dance before the throne
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Center Of My Heart
04:26
|
|||
Does anybody know what love is
Does anybody know
Does anybody know what love is
I thought once or twice I'd found it
It just up and disappeared before I had the chance to put my arms around it
I'd see couples walking down the street
Holding hands and looking free
People talk about lasting love but it just never happened to me
But then one day I met you, you broke my chains apart
You showed me love's true freedom
And laid your soul in the center of my heart
When I'm sad you help me see the light
When I'm confused I just talk to you
No matter what kind of trouble I'm in, you always seem to know what I should do
I'm a walking contradiction
You're the keeper of the key
You're the road that leads to Fehrion and that's all that matters to me
I only want to serve you
Oh but where do I start
My love is just a reflection of your soul in the centre of my heart
I’ve travelled so far
I turn around, there you are
And when I feel like I'm lost in the dark
You lift me up and you show me the start ah
Throw me into your prison of love
Hold me over without bail
I wanna give myself up without a fight but I'm so afraid I'm gonna fail
You let me know that I worry too much, this is not what love's about
I feel forgiven by your sunsets, your rain washes away my doubt
Nothing can ever stop this
Death won't tear us apart
All I'm really trying to say is you're the soul in the center of my heart

Rock That Doesn't Roll
03:23
|
|||
Thank you very much. You know when I first became a christian I hunted around in vain to find christian rock and roll music that I could relate to, I mean it just, it just all sounded, 'orrible is the best word I can use. And then I was introduced to a name that I didn't know and an album that I'd never heard before. And I just was overjoyed and thrilled because suddenly I could relate to this music and there seemed to be a christian who could do it as well if not better than the rest of us. He's written so many songs, I've recorded and I've sung so many of them. I just love his work and I'd like you to please welcome Larry Norman [Spoken by Cliff Richard]
Woo-ooh
Well I was lost and blind when a friend of mine
Took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
It was in another land
Now I feel so strange, my life is changed
When I think of the past it's all rearranged
Well wowie zowie he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that will not roll (will not roll)
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Sing it [Spoken by Cliff Richard]
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on the road so far from home
When the future touched my past
Now I feel so blessed 'cause he gave me his rest
I finally feel like I've passed my test
I wanna be like him, that's my goal
Like a rock that doesn't roll
Woo
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that will not roll (will not roll)
You know he's good for the body an' great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Roll on
Woo
Lost, blind, friend of mine
Took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
That was in another land
Now I feel so blessed, he gave me his rest
I finally feel like I've passed my test
Wowie zowie well the cat's got soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that will not roll (will not roll)
You know he's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I wanna tell you he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that will not roll (will not roll)
You know he's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that does not roll

Camel In A Needle's Eye

Da doo da dun bau
Ba ba bup
I got something that I think you want, yeah
It’s not for sale, it can’t be bought
Mmm, lean closer, let me fill you in
You know, baby you need a friend
I think you do
You got money, you got diamond rings
You’re finding out they’re not worth a thing, yeah yeah
What good’s a soul that cannot sing
Take a chance, take a chance with me, ah-ah-eh
Open your eyes and you will see
I own nothing but I’m a wealthy man
I’ll share it with you if you take his hand
Your daddy’s money gonna give you the blues
Just tell your mama take her hands off of you
Pick up the cross, God’ll see you through
Bau bau bau wey yeah
You know I love you baby
I’ll love you hard and love you long
And I don’t want this love to perish
So listen to the message and the music
And the lyrics of this song
Yeah yeah yeah yeah-uh
Yeah [Very faintly]
A camel in a needle’s eye
Yeah, that’s what we’re talking about [Spoken]
Not all the rich have to die
Just follow closely, do not stray, yeah, yeah
You can probably keep your money
Just give your soul away, yay yay yay yay
Don’t negotiate, just stop and pray
Lifting your head up to heaven and say, yay
Please forgive me, take these things away, yeah
And then keep walking
Yeah, yeah, walk tall doll
You fall down, you get back up again
You carry that cross, a lamp unto your feet
Yeah, a light unto your path
It’s foolishness to them that, to them that perish
Yeah yeah yeah
I’m gonna love you till your dying day, yeah yeah
Until you turn to God or turn me away
What can I do, there’s nothing left to say
It’s up to you, just keep walking, hey hey ey
Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Whoa-oh
Take his hand
I’m gonna love you till your dying day
Until you turn to God or turn me away
It’s up to you , what can I say, yay

What's wrong with this body
This body is ill
You know it's full of disease and it's dying
You know this body needs healing
And we need to be filled
We've got to stand on our feet and start trying
Woo hoo hoo-ooh
If a man should divorce the wife of his youth
Just to marry another woman
And his life goes off course and he strays from the truth
Let his fall be to all a kind of omen
What's wrong with this body
This body is ill
It's full of disease and it's dying
This body needs healing
We need to be filled
We've got to stand on our feet and start trying
If a woman do leave her faithful husband at home
And pursue other men, she'll lose contentment
But let him pray for renewal and find comfort through faith
And recover from bitterness and resentment
What's wrong with this body
This body is ill
It's full of disease and it's dying
Yes it is
This body needs healing
We need to be filled
We've got to stand on our feet and start trying
Woo
Wo oh wo yeah
When a friend turns his back and grows jealous and cruel
And he tries to destroy your reputation
You will gain what he takes
If you pray for that friend
And you concentrate on your own salvation
That's right
What's wrong with this body
This body is ill
It's full of disease and it's dying
Yes it is
This body needs healing
We need to be filled
We've got to stand on our feet and start trying
I said what's wrong with this body
This body is ill
It's full of disease and it's dying
This body needs healing
We need to be filled
We've got to stand on our feet
We've got to stand on our feet
We've got to stand on our feet and start dying
Oh hoo
Yes we do so it's all dead to our soul **
Woo hoo ooh
[** Not completely sure this is what Larry sings here]

Near
03:55
|
|||
When you are lost
When you are sad
You must remember all the love we had
Try not to hurt
Try not to cry
Keep your head up and look into the sky
Oh don't wonder why, for I am near
Please say a prayer
When you think of me
And I'll be there even if you can't see
I love your heart
With all of mine
Yours is the love that I could never find
Because I was so blind, but I am near
I feel so far from where I know that I should be
Oh will I ever find my way
I’ve climbed the mountain and as far as I can see
This is the way that things will stay
Don't be sad
And don't despair
God knows your every thought and he is there
He is your house
He is your place
I feel his love when I recall your face
Or I look into space, for he is near
For he is near
For he is near
|
||||
10. |
||||
Well I'm so glad that you finally faced your death
And you found the things you'd always hoped were true
There were times when I would've saved my breath
But something kept me praying for you
And it's hard to know why it took so long
And it's easy to see where the road went wrong
And it's bad for life to be torn in half
Keep your feet upon the path
Some day soon if we pray for queen Jane
She might find the strength to do what she must do
She might lay down the visions and pick up her cross
And follow where he's leading her to
It's hard to die and lay the old life down
You don't get no help from the jugglers and the clowns
They melt a brass serpent and they build a golden calf
And their feet stray from this path
All our friends who are anchored to their past
Need something that we cannot give
And we like them before we heard his voice
Existed but did not live
We who are busy dying are busy being born
And glimpse the light of heaven through where the veil is torn
Our faith shall find completion, our soul escape his wrath
If our feet stay on the path
Evil sits like a dark cloud beside the sun
But the light shall destroy the darkness with its power
And we who live in the shadow of this world
Shall escape by that light in the final hour
When I first saw you you were oh so alone
I felt your pain when I heard you talk
You were lost like some rolling stone
Now your hanging onto the solid rock
And there you stand, a brother in the son
Facing your future and the race that must be run
When this life is over we shall rest at last
If our feet stay on the path
On the path

Soul On Fire
05:55
|
|||
Eldridge was a bad man
At least that's what the people said
But Eldridge he was only working out
All the things they put inside his head
He was like an angry lion
Trapped in a vice
They couldn't keep him down
And so they put his soul on ice
Well they locked him in a prison cell
'Til he managed to get away
But living on the run ain't no fun
Both eyes open every night and day
Just a little peace and quiet
Was his one desire
But it never came 'til something set his soul on fire
Now the man in the moon gave him the word
With a face that was clear and a voice that was heard
Go back to your people but lean on me
They can lock you up again
But I have set you free
Oh Eldridge says he's different now
But a lot of people don't agree
You know they say he's only trying to free himself
I guess in time we all shall see
But I do believe his message
He ain't no liar
When he says that Jesus can set your soul on fire
Soul
Soul on fire
Soul-ah
Soul on fire [x6]
Soul on fire
Yeah yeah yeah yeah-eh
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
Set your soul on fire, Jesus, come on set my soul on fire
Come on, take me to the river
Help me get across
You've got to take me to the river
I feel so lost
I said Jesus set my soul, set my soul on fire
It's so strong
It's so raaargh, soul
Soul on fire
Soul on fire
Soul on fire
Set my soul on fire
Set my soul on fire
Help me decide
How clearly I can see the moon
Looking for the hole in the north
Hoping he'll come back soon

Rachael And Me
02:19
|
|||
I would like to sing you a song that I don't think you've heard before. It's a song that my sister wrote and I'd like to sing it for you [Spoken]
Rachael and me walked along the beach
One of us wore a frown
Rachael built sandcastles
While I tore them down
I dug up sand crabs
And threw them far from shore
Rachael returned them
While I dug up more
I gathered seaweed
And made a lovely wreath
Rachael wouldn't wear it
So I threw it at her feet
She wouldn't watch
While I did my best headstand
So while she was sleeping
I buried her with sand
[Whistling]
Huh?
Okay mom, I'm coming
What?
I don't know where she is [Spoken]

Unborn Child
02:24
|
|||
Okay ready?
Alright [Spoken]
A child is waiting within watery walls
For some sweet signal from the angel's lips
And then sudden purpose shall arrive
Through sacred corridors and darkened halls
Through unions gate and past resistant hopes
To gasp in cold surprise and be alive
God says awake and know evil from good
Weave righteousness into submission's loom
Have faith in what flesh cannot comprehend
The road is straight and narrow through this world
But some shall stray and gather flowers of doom
And recognise the enemy for their friend
How foolish, sad, the enmity men keep between baptism and the final dirge
Embracing vain pursuits which barely please
But now I bid thee rest in unborn sleep to dream on airy trifles
And help purge this life's bleak horrors from future memories
