about

Larry's 1977 World Tour was recorded with the hire of a mobile 24 track studio in different countries. Similar to the Rolling Stones' mobile studio inside their large truck, this vehicle parked outside many a theater with cables and snakes running inside and captured the performances on stage. Larry took his dear friend, Alwyn Wall, on part of the tour and a band made up of guitar virtuoso Norman Barratt and sidemen like Nick The Knife on drums and T-Bone on bass. On another part of the tour, Larry took Tom Howard on his coat-tails down to Australia where he featured Tom on "The Fish Song" and other classic Howard tunes (only one of which is included here) and Larry performed the most soulful version of "I've Searched All Around The World" he ever executed, with Tom on keyboards and backup harmony. This album starts off slowly with "I Hope I'll See You In Heaven" (an unknown song at the time, having never been recorded on an album) and rounds off nicely with "Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music?" at the end. The cover photograph, shot by D.C. Riggott was taken on the outskirts of China.

Note: This release was created from a bootleg recording that trades among fans labelled only as "Live 1979". The concert took place in New Zealand but for now the correct year is uncertain. Did Larry get it right or did the bootleggers?

Note: Some tracks from this same concert were used, with better sound quality on the earlier CD release, Blarney Stone.
